Of course you want to know how much this will cost. That
depends on the type of matter and how long the project takes. Clients almost
always prefer to have a fixed price, so we try to offer fixed prices on most
things.
In general, our prices are in about the middle of the
pack. The solicitor’s hourly rate is somewhat lower than many other lawyers,
as we don't have the overhead of a large law firm, where many unproductive
hours are spent (and billed to the client) for the paralegal telling the
junior lawyer what's happening and then for the junior lawyer, senior lawyer
and the partner in charge all to have a meeting to discuss the matter's
status. We don't need to waste time in status meetings.
We will usually quote a fixed fee after your initial
consultation in matters where this is appropriate. If not we may be able to
quote a price range depending on whether for example a litigation matter
settles by agreement or proceeds to court.
In summary, we are not the cheapest legal services around, but we are also
far from being the most expensive. We will do our very best to give you a
solid idea of how much the total bill is going to be. We'll let you know if
something you want to do is going to increase the bill and we promise you
personal service.
